FOCCAD APRIL-JUNE QUARTERY REPORT
We are excited to bring you updates on what we have been up to in the past month. We have updates on stories from the field, our last mile health programing, the resilience and livelihoods development from the community and a note to our funders and collaborators making our work possible on the ground. Key Achievements for the Quarter
  • 365000 farming households have been through radio extension, one on one farm activities and group and cooperative coaching and training on conservation and climate smart agriculture, post -harvest management and business skills and marketing, livelihoods and resilience development
  • 3456 children have been supported through our children corner, community based child care center, teen clubs and after library services.
  • 31800 women, children, men and young adults have been supported through mobile and outreach health services, with 1234 defaulters traced back into treatment, care and support.
  • 546 young people have accessed ICT, vocational and technical training, business and life skills through youth programing.
  • 123456 learners in primary schools have accessed quality Comprehensive Sexuality Education through enhanced life skills education programing with school governance structures.
Our Stories from the field

"IMPROVED HOUSEHOLD LIVELIHOOD THROUGH AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTIVITY"
Meet Jabili Kamanga, 70 years of age , a husband, Father of 4 and a grandfather of 6 children. He comes from Village Headman Chunga in Katengeza. He is a member of Katengeza Pre Cooperative. He is one of the members who have improved household livelihood through farming and VSL. He has been a farmer for quite a long time but he couldn’t have enough food for his household due to lack of technical support in his farming.
"NO WEALTH WITHOUT GOOD HEALTH"
Access to health care remains a burden in rural Malawi with pregnant and lactating women walking more than 50KM to the nearest health facility. FOCCADs approach to health bridges the transport and logistics gap between communities and health facilities through door to door and outreach health services and provision of emergency transport services to the most vulnerable and needy clients to health facilities.
"MY PERFORMANCE HAS GREATLY IMPROVED IN CLASS"
Tiyanjane Dausi, a standard 7 and 14-year-old Leaner at St Paul’s Primary School in Nkhotakota District in Malawi is a practical example of work in progress in ensuring girls achieve their dreams in society. The journey to supporting girl child education and growth is taking good shape in Malawi through FOCCAD programing on comprehensive sexuality education and child corner.
"Women empowerment through Self Help Group"
FOCCAD adopted the SHG approach with support from Kindernot Hilfe (KNH) through over 40 clubs with membership of 1300 women who testifies of enhanced skills in savings, business, leadership and group dynamics.Our story leads to Martha Kadewere aged 28, married with 5 children who comes from Nkomakachoka village T.A Malengachanzi in Nkhotakota district.
Fundraising Drive
Join our fundraising drive to improve our last mile health programing in ensuring quality SRHR is provided to women, children and young adults. We actively seek individual, cooperate and foundation support to: procure medical van (ambulance) to take health to the last mile in hard to reach communities, recruit and train more community health workers, procure drugs for our community clinical visits. One woman living with HIV is supported with transport and logistics over 8-10 times and conduct over 60 visits to graduate with an HIV negative child, our CHWs conducts over 50 visits to one woman. We are looking for tricycles to ease mobility and take more mothers to clinics.

What's Coming Up
  1. Our strategic plan will be ending mid-2021, we are launching the process for the review towards development of a new plan- It’s an exciting process and you can send your input.
  2. Covid19 has disrupted a number of services, we have upcoming fundraising ventures for children and health programs, fell free to donate.
  3. Our children library need books and computers, support us with books and computers to train more children and youth in ICT.
